RI Discovery Meeting - helpful for just about any emotional problem or mental illness - RI Discovery meetings are a shorter, more interactive version of traditional Recovery International meetings. The method is still the same. Meetings last about an hour.
2012 was Recovery's Diamond Jubilee year - the first Recovery meeting was over 79 years ago, on November 7, 1937.
We meet on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM at the First Christian Church at 6th and Clark in Ames - information: Margot at

The public is welcome (over 18) - at the meetings we learn cognitive behavioral skills to manage our lives, as well as a philosophy of peace and averageness - we are strictly peer to peer.
The method emphasizes following the advice of one's doctor or therapist, for those in treatment. We try to provide a safe and friendly environment. We do not discuss religion, politics, or sex at our meetings and stick to the trivial events of everyday life.
For years we have had an introductory, toll free telephone meeting twice a month. As of January 8th, 2017, the twice monthly Intro to RI telephone meetings with the toll free access number has ceased. They have been replaced with a weekly Intro to RI telephone meeting held at 7 PM Eastern time on Sunday evenings. There is NO toll-free number for these meetings. These weekly meetings serve as an opportunity for those who are new or fairly new to attend and learn the RI method through explanation, demonstration, and practice. Anyone wishing to attend an Intro meeting needs to contact Gilda to register to attend. The telephone number will then be shared. (The former number will not be used.) Please call Gilda, her phone number is

We also hold other regular meetings over the phone and on the Internet and there are forums, a chat room, and information at the website, http://www.recoveryinternational.org. Recovery International was formerly under the umbrella group Abraham Low Self Help Systems.
