New home needed for Patience the lonely pony. We adopted her 12 years ago to be a pasture pal for my riding horse. Now with her old friend passed, she needs to move on to a new place where she can be with other horses.

Patience is approximately 15 years old and was born mostly blind. She has no vision as far as I can tell in her right eye, and some sort of vision out the bottom of her left. She is fit and gets around fine but has never been trained to do anything except she is naturally very friendly to animals and humans and is gentle-natured. This and her small size (approximately 39 inches at the withers) makes her a very good companion to perhaps another single horse out there.

The new owner must be able to control her access to spring grass or grains since she is very sugar sensitive and will founder if allowed to mow down lots of high-calorie foods. Usually the summer is fine after the grass slows down a bit, but the spring is definitely a time to be diligent.

The new owner must have another horse she can be with, and will be responsible for transport, pickup from the 50248 area.

Edit to add: We're having occasional problems responding to Craigslist emails. If you don't hear from us within a day or two, try reaching out again and including a different method of contact in the message.
