This was my Mom's Johnson Brothers Friendly Village collection from the 1990s. She bought them in Younkers in Mason City, Iowa. Although there are pieces that my Aunt purchased for my Mom every time they went to England. Mom passed away in 2001. I have hung on to this set for almost 25 years. They've been packed away and well wrapped in a box . It's a beautiful collection! I went through every one of them and I did not see a chip. I'm sure something could get past me, they are in excellent condition. There are 22 dinner plates, two serving bowls, 2 platters, a sugar bowl and bunch of teacups. She must have gotten those someplace else because the bottom of half them are embossed "MADE IN ENGLAND". I don't know if they're older or if she found them at a sale to match her set, I'm just not sure? They are all made in England making them highly collectible. The new cheaper version was made in China after 2003. There are 43 teacups, half of them with saucers. There are two platters, two serving bowls, 12- 9 and 1/2-in dinner plates and 10 -10 1/2 in dinner plates. Also included 24 - 6-in cereal bowls, 20 bread and butter plates. I've included 5 coffee mugs , one of them depicts Christmas . We have the "Sugar Maples" "The Village Green", "The Village Street", "The Well", "The Covered Bridge", "The Hay Field", "The Schoolhouse", " The Autumn Mist", "The Lily Pond" and "The Old Mill". JOHNSON BROTHERS "The Friendly Village" dinnerware Set. This pattern, produced from 1953 to 2003 in England is known for its charming depictions of idyllic English countryside. with each piece often depicting a different part of the village. The dinnerware is crafted from fine china and is known for its durability, being dishwasher and microwave safe.
The rustic, brown-and-white design adds a timeless, country charm to a table setting and is often used for seasonal gatherings like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. They would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone!
The pattern was originally produced in England, with newer versions manufactured in China after 2003. This is over 110 piece collection of ironstone dinner place setting. This popular pattern features various country building scenes with a border of brown and green leaves.
